| How did
Darn Good Soaps begin? |
Darn Good Soaps was opened for business in the Spring of 2001 by a very good friend of mine, Melissa. The first time she tried soap making was from a kit at the craft store and she wanted to make just a few bars for a gift basket she was putting together for a friend. So she mixed, poured and molded these little soaps in her kitchen and became instantly hooked on the hobby of soap making!
As fate would have it, her hobby soon became an obsession and before she knew it-she had made more soap then she could possibly use herself. Luckily she had a bunch of friends and family who were knocking down my door to buy her soapy creations and they finally convinced her to take her "hobby" to the next step, and Darn Good Soaps was born.
In the spring of 2003 she purchased a local candle company that was up for sale and learned how to make soy candles. They were instantly a hit! So we have now become Darn Good Soap & Candle Co.
In January 2008, I, Karen Bender purchased Darn Good Soap & Candle Co. As a long time customer, I could not let the business die! I decided to take the company back to basics and only carry, soaps, lotions, body mists and candles for now. I do intend to expand the line of products again in the near future. I have never made a better business decision than purchasing this company. I absolutely love everything it entails. I have promised to put the same quality, care and love into every creation as our founder did! I am lucky to love my job, that is a gift in itself!

| What makes
Darn Good Soaps different from store bought
soaps? |
- Our soaps look great, smell fabulous and
guess what? They are actually a great
quality soap for your skin also!
- All of my soaps contain an ingredient
called vegetable glycerin. Glycerin is a
natural humectant and emollient, which means
it has the power to draw and retain moisture
to the body. Glycerin provides a
moisturizing lather which helps to keep skin
soft and supple.
- During the commercial soap making
process of store bought soaps the natural
glycerin is extracted through a salting
process and is then used only in companies’
more expensive soaps and lotions. This is
one of the reasons why handmade soaps are
more expensive than store bought soaps.
- All of my soaps also contain Vitamin E,
which is an antioxidant. Antioxidants play
an important role in protecting skin from UV
Rays, skin rejuvenation, and calming skin
irritations.

easily catch your eye. Each soaps’ design is
uniquely its own, with the use of different
shapes and bright colors. We carry a very
wide selection of different scents and
aromas. Currently our scent list is at over
a hundred different aromas and growing every
month. I test many fragrances to find the
very best there is, to ensure each and every
scent is as true to the name as you can get.
- All of my soaps are made with the very
best ingredients I can find. I personally
hand make and package each product myself to
ensure the quality of each and every soap
and bath accessory I make from start to
finish.
- My name and reputation are staked on the
products that I make, so you can be assured
that you're receiving not only a soap packed
full of creativity but also a quality
product that works. I will not sell a
product that I do not use myself.

You're darn right we can! We can customize shape, color, scents, containers & labels for most of our products. Great for weddings, showers, birthdays & more!

| I have
sensitive skin, Can I use this soap? Can I use
this soap on my face? |
If you regularly use a commercial brand of soap then you should have no problem with Darn Good Soaps. However, please be aware that even the finest ingredients can irritate people with sensitive skin or particular allergies.

| How long
will a bar of soap last? |
- If you use your bar daily, it should
last one person three to four weeks on
average.

| Is there
any special care I should use for my soaps? |
Place your soap on a holder or rack that will allow water to drain away from the soap, otherwise your soap will begin to "melt" and you will not get as much use per bar. Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid color changes.

| How long will your candles burn? |
- Votives burn approximately 15 to 18 hours
- Small containers burn 50 to 60 hours
- Large containers burn 110 to 120 hours
|
| Is there any special care for my candles? |
To get the longest burn times possible with your candles, keep your wicks trimmed to 1/4" at all times. Keep out of drafts to avoid potential fire hazards. Discontinue using the candle when 1/4" to 1/2" of wax remains to avoid potential fire hazards.

| I have a scent that I just love and I can't find anywhere, can you make it for me? |
Currently we carry over 85 scents in candles, soaps and other products and we have access to over 400 additional scents, so yes chances are we can more than likely make our products in your favorite scents, including designer fragrances.
